10 Best Women's Fashion Brands to Consign in NZ | Reinvent

10 Women's Fashion Brands We Love to Receive at Reinvent – And Why They Sell So Well Pre-Loved

If you're clearing out your wardrobe and wondering which clothing brands are worth consigning, you're not alone.

One of the questions we're regularly asked at Reinvent Boutique is:

"What brands are you looking for?"

The short answer is quality, current women's fashion that our customers are excited to buy.

As a women's clothing consignment boutique, we see a lot of clothing come through our doors. Over time, you quickly learn which brands hold their appeal in the pre-loved market, which pieces customers search for and what tends to sell well.

Here are 10 brands we always love seeing arrive at Reinvent.

1. Trelise Cooper

It's probably no surprise that Trelise Cooper makes the list.

Known for beautiful prints, colour, detailing and statement pieces, Trelise Cooper has a loyal following in New Zealand.

Dresses, jackets, tops and special occasion pieces can all be popular with our customers, particularly when they're current and in beautiful condition.

Buying Trelise Cooper pre-loved also gives shoppers the opportunity to own a quality designer piece at a more accessible price.

2. Moochi

Moochi is another brand our customers know and actively look for.

Its modern, wearable pieces work particularly well in wardrobes because they're easy to mix and match.

Great jackets, dresses, pants, knitwear and layering pieces can all perform well in the pre-loved market.

3. Kate Sylvester

Good New Zealand design tends to have longevity, and Kate Sylvester is a great example.

Beautiful fabrics, interesting details and pieces that don't immediately date make it a brand that's well suited to buying and selling pre-loved.

4. Witchery

Witchery is a fantastic example of a quality high street brand that our customers recognise.

Blazers, dresses, pants, shirts and knitwear can all be great wardrobe staples.

It's also a brand that demonstrates an important point about consignment: clothing doesn't have to be designer to have a second life.

Quality, condition and current styling matter enormously.

5. Country Road

Country Road is another brand that has strong recognition with New Zealand shoppers.

Well-made basics, knitwear, dresses, jackets and everyday wardrobe pieces can be fantastic pre-loved buys.

These are often the sorts of pieces that customers can immediately imagine wearing with clothing they already own.

And that's always a good sign.

6. Max

Max is a New Zealand favourite and one we regularly see at Reinvent.

Wearable dresses, tops, jackets, knitwear and workwear make it an easy brand to incorporate into an existing wardrobe.

When pieces are current and in excellent condition, they can be a great fit for Reinvent.

7. Decjuba

Modern, casual and easy to wear, Decjuba is popular with women wanting everyday pieces that still feel stylish.

Denim, jackets, dresses and tops are particularly versatile, which is something I always look for as a stylist.

If an item can be styled several different ways, it's much easier to justify giving it space in your wardrobe.

8. Tuesday

Tuesday is a New Zealand label we love receiving.

The brand's modern, feminine aesthetic and beautiful pieces make it appealing to women looking for something a little more special.

It's another great example of why the pre-loved market is so exciting—you can discover beautiful New Zealand labels without necessarily paying the original retail price.

9. Taylor

Taylor is a New Zealand designer label we love seeing come through the doors at Reinvent.

Known for interesting shapes, quality fabrics and distinctive designs, Taylor pieces often have great longevity in a wardrobe.

Jackets, dresses, tops and pants can all appeal to our customers, particularly when they're current and in excellent condition.

It's also a great example of a brand that's worth consigning sooner rather than leaving beautiful pieces sitting unworn in your wardrobe.

10. Kowtow

Kowtow is a New Zealand label we love seeing arrive at Reinvent.

Known for quality fabrics, contemporary shapes and a strong focus on responsible fashion, Kowtow pieces are particularly well suited to the pre-loved market.

Their dresses, knitwear, tops, pants and jackets can remain relevant well beyond a single season, which is exactly what we want from clothing that's going to have a second life.

For our customers, buying Kowtow pre-loved is a great opportunity to add a quality New Zealand label to their wardrobe while making an even more sustainable fashion choice.

What Actually Makes a Brand Good for Consignment?

Here's where I want to make an important distinction.

A label alone doesn't make something suitable for consignment.

I could be handed a fantastic brand, but if the garment is badly pilled, stained, damaged or very dated, it's unlikely to be something we'll accept.

Likewise, a beautiful current piece from a quality high street label can be exactly what our customers are looking for.

When assessing clothing for consignment at Reinvent, we look at the whole garment:

  • Brand

  • Age

  • Style

  • Condition

  • Quality

  • Season

  • Current customer demand

All of those things matter.

Why We Generally Don't Accept Fast Fashion

We're also often asked why we don't accept brands such as Shein, Temu, Kmart, H&M and other fast-fashion labels.

Reinvent is a curated consignment boutique, and our focus is on quality clothing with good potential for another life.

The original retail price, construction, resale value and customer demand all play a role in whether it's commercially viable for us to photograph, prepare, list and sell an item.

This is why we're selective about the brands and garments we accept.

What Should You Look for When Clearing Your Wardrobe?

If you're standing in front of your wardrobe wondering what to consign, start with the pieces you simply aren't wearing anymore.

Maybe your lifestyle has changed.

Maybe your size has changed.

Maybe your style has changed.

Or maybe you bought something beautiful that just never quite worked for you.

If it's current, quality, freshly washed and in excellent condition, don't leave it sitting unworn for another two years.

Someone else might absolutely love it.

Aimee's Tip

Don't hang onto quality clothing simply because you paid a lot for it.

I see this all the time.

We think:

"But that cost me $300!"

So it stays in the wardrobe for another three years... still unworn.

Unfortunately, keeping it in your wardrobe doesn't make it more valuable. Fashion continues to change, and generally the longer you leave it, the harder it becomes to resell.

If you know you're not going to wear something again, consign it while it's still current.

That gives it the best chance of finding another home.

Can I Consign Clothing From Anywhere in New Zealand?

Yes.

Although Reinvent Boutique is based in Lincoln, near Christchurch, we receive clothing for consignment from women around New Zealand.

You don't need to live locally to consign with Reinvent.

If you have quality, current women's clothing that meets our consignment criteria, get in touch with us before sending your items and we'll explain what you need to do.

What Other Brands Does Reinvent Accept?

These 10 brands are certainly not the only labels we accept.

You'll also regularly see quality New Zealand and international designer and high street brands at Reinvent, including Karen Walker, Gorman, Vassalli, Fate + Becker, Eb & Ive, Seeking Lola and Luella.

Our focus isn't on creating an enormous list of acceptable labels.

It's about selecting great clothing that our customers will be excited to discover.
